St. Dominic's, Belfast - a brief overeview.

St Dominic’s School in Belfast was opened on the Falls Road, Belfast in 1870. Opened by the Dominican Order it started with just 4 pupils. Today it attracts girls from all over the greater Belfast area and has an enrolment of over 1000 girls. The school has 141 places available in year 8. It is a large Catholic Grammar school which was formerly known as St Dominic’s High School. The school pupils obtain excellent results at A2 level and GCSE level. Demand for places at St Dominic’s is always very high and good results are needed in the GL Assessment Transfer Test which they use as part of their selection procedure. Mary McAleese, former president of Ireland, attended St Dominic’s school.
St Dominic’s School in Belfast use the new SEAG Single Entrance Transfer Test results as part of its intake criteria into year 8.
