The Sacred Heart Grammar School in the town of Newry was established in 1930 by the Sisters of St Clare. The school has grown steadily both in size and in reputation. Often regarded as one of the top performing grammar schools in Northern Ireland it now occupies a 17 acre site on the northern side of Newry. It has first class teaching facilities for the almost 850 pupils and their teachers. As well as first class academics the school also offers a wide range of extra-curricular clubs and activities. The school has an enrolment figure of 121 for entry into year 8 and demand for places can be very high.
Sacred Heart Grammar School uses the new SEAG Single Entrance Transfer Test results as part of its intake criteria into year 8.
